Pakistan: IMC assists the Civil Secretariat FATA

International Medical Corps (IMC) has assisted the Civil Secretariat FATA with vital medical equipment and medicines which will be used to assist women and children as well as in quality dental services to the vulnerable communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA). The equipment includes baby Incubators, dental chairs, patient beds and vitally needed medicines. The equipment and medicines will help equip the selected and prioritized Agency Headquarter (AHQ) Hospitals, Rural Healthcare Centers (RHCs) and Basic Health Units (BHUs), as per need of the FATA health directorate. IMC also assisted the Civil Secretariat FATA in developing the health sector Sustainable Development Plan (SDP) for FATA and works in health, water and sanitation, education, livelihoods and economic growth sectors assisting more than 700,000 direct beneficiaries. IMC is working in Pakistan since 1984-85.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Javed Iqbal, Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Zafar Hassan, Secretary P&D, Mr. Kazim Niaz, Political Agent Mohmand Agency, Dr. Rauf Deputy Director Health Services FATA, and Mr. Jehangir Ali Khan, IMC Country Director with representatives from IMC.
The Additional Chief Secretary FATA appreciated support from IMC and considered it of immense value keeping in consideration health sector requirements and situation in FATA. Mr. Jehangir Ali Khan appreciated development interventions being implemented through the Civil Secretariat FATA and indicated continued willingness to extend support to the vulnerable communities of FATA, where possible.
