After a disaster or emergency, many societies slide backwards. Economic development, education, and health are all victims. These crises not only affect the immediate needs of populations, they put long-term care at risk.
With 25 years of experience working it the most difficult environments, International Medical Corps has identified five critical health priorities which are crucial in helping us achieve our mission of saving lives and building self-reliance. Our holistic approach emphasizes women and children, who are disproportionately affected by conflict and disease, mental health, which often gets overlooked, and the provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene, which stops the spread of disease.
